Booktrailers and Video Storytelling: How to teach and learn reading appreciation
Workshop for teachers to be held in Mazara del Valle on 21-28 February 2016: how to produce a booktrailer Activity during the workshop will be twofold: on one side, classes in the morning will be devoted to the preparation and the production of book trailers; on the other side, participants since the beginning will have the task of preparing audiovisual reports by narrating through images what happens (during the course and during the stay in Mazara) mainly by using the technique of video storytelling. Obviously the two moments are closely interlinked.
The use of book trailer in education: The use of the video story telling allows: 1. Is a tool to encourage children to read and write; 2 shows specific rules for the narrative and the creativity; 3 - The reference model is a audiovisual trailer; 4 allows interaction between different languages: visual, textual and digital skills; 1 - to translate visually any learning process; 2 to learn the crative rules of the audiovisual language; 3 to adapt the language to what you want to tell; 4-to replace the text with the visual language; however the written text is at the origine of the creative process itself;
For producing a booktrailer it is necessary to: 1 - read a book; 2 - write a script; 3 learn some codes of reading; 4 team work; 5 - identify issues and key people; 6- planning staging; 7 - select images, music, words; 8 - acquire or improve digital skills; 9 - use creativity; 10 analyze critically the result. For producing a video report through the story telling you need to: 1 - have a clear view of the learning process that is going to start; 2 - work in groups; 3 - identify teaching moments and key players; 4 - organize, share and synthesize in image sequences what has been filmed; 5 - rotate images, and choose music and interviews to be included; 6 - acquire or improve digital skills; 7 - use creativity; 8 learn how to critically analyze the result

Analisi di alcuni booktrailer: Titolo: Patrick Lee, The Breach, New York, HarperCollins, 2009 Booktrailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr3- YaSZDsM Il video inizia con una voce fuori campo che introduce immediatamente nel dramma vissuto dal protagonista del romanzo. La breve durata del booktrailer catapulta lo spettatore, quasi fosse coinvolto nella narrazione, verso la fine del video, che termina con l immagine della copertina.

In modo dinamico e accattivante presenta un volume che raccoglie una serie di saggi che ragionano sul rapporto tra amore e denaro.

Booktrailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4PKL eggkcq Il filmato inizia con una scena che coinvolge i due protagonisti e introduce immediatamente lo spettatore nella vicenda narrata. La voce fuori campo esalta ciò che è espresso dalle immagini.
Having chosen the book, you firstly need to: 1- decide whether you want to tell the entire story or provide only the attractive elements for the booktrailer viewer 2 identify how to communicate your idea (which images do I need? What kind of atmosphere do I want to create? What rythm should the booktrailer express?). The starting points for video storytelling: 1- Decide which eventsare narratively relevant and understand how they can make the most through moving images. Understand what are the elements that serve to captivate the viewer; 2 Wich focus is needed to make the understandable your own idea (what imagesdo I need? What are the key elements of what I am telling? What rhythm do I want to give to my videoreport?).
