Andrea Meneghetti è nato nel 1977 a Bassano del Grappa (VI). Nel 1996 si diploma alla Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia e nel 1998 tiene la sua prima mostra personale. Dopo 16 anni di sperimentazioni e dopo aver passato vari periodi artistici, Andrea Meneghetti sente l esigenza di tradurre i soggetti dei suoi quadri in sculture e nel 2013 con la tecnica del taglio laser realizza il suo intento. Le sue sculture sono in ferro, spessore 3 mm e dipinte su un lato con smalto. Ha all attivo numerose esposizioni tra cui Galleria Civica Cavour (Padova), Salone Internazionale del Lusso (Fiera di Vicenza), Palazzo Pisani (Lonigo), Palazzo Fogazzaro (Schio), Boutique Malloni (Fuorisalone Milano). Vincitore Premio Comel del Pubblico 2015. Andrea Meneghetti was born in 1977 in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza, Italy). In 1996 he graduated at the International School of Graphics in Venice and in 1998 he held his first solo exhibition. After 16 years of experimentation and after passing various artistic periods, Andrea Meneghetti needs to translate the subjects of his paintings in sculptures and in 2013 with the technique of laser cutting he made his intent. His sculptures are made of iron, 3 mm thick and painted on one side with enamel. He has held numerous exhibitions including Galleria Civica Cavour (Padua, Italy), International Luxury Exhibition (Fiera di Vicenza, Italy), Palazzo Pisani (Lonigo), Palazzo Fogazzaro (Schio), Boutique Malloni (Fuorisalone Milano). In 2015 he won the Comel Audience Award. 3
Vincitore Premio COMEL del Pubblico 2015 Intervista a cura di Rosa Manauzzi, Maggio 2015 D: Ti sei diplomato presso la scuola internazionale di Grafica di Venezia nel 1996. Qual era l idea di arte che ha ispirato la scelta di questa scuola e in cosa è stata fondamentale per la tua formazione. R: All epoca in cui mi sono iscritto alla scuola ero semplicemente attratto dalla grafica, dal fumetto e dall illustrazione, ho scelto con una buona dose di inconsapevolezza giovanile. D: Venezia è di per sé un opera d arte all aperto. Durante la tua frequentazione formativa, cosa hai provato come artista di fronte ad una città che ha acceso la fantasia per tante creazioni del passato e continua a rapire turisti e artisti? R: Venezia è una delle città che amo di più, ti apre e fa espandere il cuore, ogni sua parte è fonte di ispirazione e in base alla stagione in cui ti trovi propone scenari diversi che vanno dall incanto all estasi, la trovo una città connessa al sensibile, certi tramonti in autunno con il sole sulla laguna ti segnano. D: Quali artisti ti hanno influenzato particolarmente nel corso degli anni? R: In età giovanile Amedeo Modigliani e Keith Haring, adesso gli artisti che amo di più sono Giotto e Tamara de Lempicka. D: Quali sono stati i materiali e le tecniche che hai privilegiato per le tue opere nel corso del tempo? E perché hai deciso di trasformare i tuoi quadri in sculture? R: All inizio usavo tempere e chine su tavola, successivamente gessetti su tavola e tela, poi smalti e inchiostro su tela. Desideravo da molto tempo fare uscire i soggetti dei miei quadri dalle tele e quando ho trovato il sistema di farlo l ho fatto, è un modo per dare maggiore vita e libertà ai soggetti. La mia è sempre stata una ricerca sull essenzialità, prima del segno poi della forma, levare tutto, eliminare il superfluo. Lasciare un nudo concetto estetico. D: Hai appena ricevuto il premio del pubblico nell ambito della quarta edizione del Premio internazionale COMEL Vanna Migliorin Arte contemporanea, per l opera La primavera di Afrodite. Un premio prestigioso, in cui ci si confronta con artisti dell Unione Europea, e unico nel suo genere, visto l impiego dell alluminio. Già essere stato selezionato tra i tredici che avrebbero potuto esporre è stata una grande vittoria (circa 350 sono stati infatti i partecipanti). Inoltre la tua opera è stata la più votata dai visitatori. Vuol dire che il tuo messaggio è stato recepito, hai conquistato il pubblico. R: Si, mi ha fatto molto piacere essere stato selezionato e ricevere l apprezzamento del pubblico. Penso sia il riconoscimento massimo, entrarci in sintonia, sapere che ogni persona che vede l opera e l apprezza si porterà a casa un po dell opera stessa. D: Afrodite, simbolo di bellezza, del femminile, e anche di forza. Un culto che ti piace rappresentare senza orpelli, nell essenzialità, riuscendo a tratteggiarla nell aria. Cosa rappresenta per te Afrodite? Cos è che ti interessa cogliere nella riproposizione di questo affascinante soggetto? R: Afrodite secondo me rappresenta tutto quello che di bello, esteticamente e/o interiormente, ha l essere umano, ognuno è Afrodite in qualche misura. Mi interessa cogliere quindi aspetti di dolcezza, sensualità, forza, apertura, positività, amore. D: Quali sono altre tematiche che hanno attirato, o attirano, la tua attenzione per i tuoi progetti artistici? R: Mitologia, donne e femminilità. D: Hai scritto un piccolo Manifesto artistico che è un autentico monumento alla vita, alla positività e alla creazione. Affidi all artista la scelta e la responsabilità di creare di fronte alla possibilità anche di distruggere. Perché hai sentito la necessità di scriverlo nero su bianco? R: L ho scritto di getto, mosso dalla necessità di dissociarmi da quei sempre più numerosi artisti che sembrano più pubblicitari in cerca di sensazionalismi e clamori, invece di essere indagatori della mente, dell animo umano e della natura. Secondo me bisogna inoltre avere la forza di guardare alla bellezza e non piangersi addosso e criticare tutto e tutti indiscriminatamente. D: L opera per te più importante finora e quella che sogni di realizzare. R: L opera più importante finora è decisamente La Primavera di Afrodite, quella che sogno di realizzare invece è un opera per la Biennale d Arte di Venezia da esporre nel padiglione Italia. Audience Award winner COMEL 2015 Interview by Rosa Manauzzi, May 2015 Q: You graduated at the International School of Graphics in Venice in 1996. What was the idea of Art that inspired the choice of this school and how was this crucial for your education? A: Back then I was just attracted by the graphics, the comics and the illustration. I chose it with a good amount of youthful unconsciousness. Q: Venice itself is a huge open air work of art. During your training, as an artist, what did you feel in front of a city that has lit the imagination for many creations of the past and continues to mesmerize tourists and artists? A: Venice is one of the cities I love the most. It opens and expands your heart. Every part of it is inspiring and, depending on the season, you are proposed different scenarios ranging from fascination to ecstasy. I find that it is a city connected to the sensitive. In autumn, certain sunsets with the sun on the lagoon mark you forever. Q: What artists have influenced you particularly over the years? A: When I was young, Amedeo Modigliani and Keith Haring. Nowadays, the artists I love the most are Giotto and Tamara de Lempicka. Q: What were the materials and techniques that you have privileged for your work over the years? And why did you decide to turn your pictures into sculptures? A: At first I used tempera and ink on the table, then chalks on wood and canvas, then enamels and ink on canvas. I wished for a long time to release the subjects of my paintings from the canvas, and when I found a way to do that, I just did that. It s a way to give more life and freedom to the characters. My research has always been on the essentials, at the beginning studying the sign and then the shape, removing everything, eliminating what was superfluous. The goal is to leave a bare aesthetic concept. Q: You have just received the audience award in the fourth edition of the international COMEL Award Vanna Migliorin Contemporary Art 2015, for the work La primavera di Afrodite (Aphrodite s Spring ). This is a prestigious award, where you are confronted with artists of the European Union, and one of a kind, because of the use of aluminum. Being selected among the thirteen that could exhibit was already a great victory (the participants were in fact about 350). Moreover, your work was the most voted by the visitors of the related exhibition. It means that your message has been understood, you have conquered the audience. A: Yes, I was very pleased to be selected and to receive the appreciation of the audience. I think getting in tune is the highest recognition, you know that every person who sees your work and appreciates it, will take home a little of it. Q: Aphrodite is the symbol of beauty, of femininity, and even of strength. It is a worship that you like to represent without frills, in its essentiality, managing to draw her in the air. What represents Aphrodite? What interests you want to grasp in the revival of this fascinating subject? A: In my opinion, Aphrodite is all that is beautiful, aesthetically and/or interiorly in any human being. Everyone is Aphrodite to some extent. Thus I want to grasp the aspects of sweetness, sensuality, strength, openness, positivity, love. Q: What are other issues that have attracted your attention for your artistic projects? A: Mythology, women and femininity. Q: You have written a small artistic manifesto that is a true monument to life, positivity and creation. You entrust the artist the choice and the responsibility to create also facing the possibility to destroy. Why did you feel the need to write it down on paper? A: I wrote it in one go, driven by the need to disassociate myself from the growing number of artists who seem more advertising in search of sensationalism and clamor, instead of inquiring mind, the human soul and nature. I think we must also have the strength to look at the beauty and not cry on and criticize everything and everyone indiscriminately. Q: What s the most important work you ve realized so far and what s the work you dream to make? A: The most important one is definitely La Primavera di Afrodite. The one I dream to realize is a work to exhibit at the Venice Biennale for the Italian pavilion. 5
