Collect Requirements: Sintesi
Collect Requirements: Flow Diagram
Collect Requirements: Altro (1) Requirements Traceability Matrix: Table that links product requirements from their origin to the deliverables that satisfy them. It ensures that each requirement adds business value by linking it to the project objectives. It tracks requirements throughout the project life cycle, helping to ensure that requirements approved are delivered at the end of the project. Finally, it provides a structure for managing changes to the product scope.
Collect Requirements: Altro (2) Group Creativity Techniques Brainstorming (without voting) Nominal group techniques (with vote) Idea/mind mapping Affinity diagram (classification into groups of a large number of ideas) Multi-criteria decision analysis (systematic analytical approach for establishing criteria to evaluate and rank many ideas) Group Decision Making Techniques Group decision making can be used to generate, classify, and prioritize product requirements. Methods for reaching decisions are for example: unanimity (e.g. through Delphi technique), majority (>50%), plurality (<50%, but the largest block in a group), dictatorship.
Define Scope: Sintesi Expert Judgment it is often used to analyse the information to develop the scope statement. Product Analysis For projects that a product as a deliverable, product analysis is used. It includes techniques such product breakdown, systems and requirements analysis, systems engineering, value analysis, QFD. Alternatives Generation Techniques to create different approaches to the work to be performed such as brainstorming, lateral thinking, etc. Project Scope Statement describes in detail the project s deliverables and the work required to create those deliverables. It provides a common understanding of the project scope among stakeholders. The detailed project scope statement includes Product scope description, Product acceptance criteria, Project deliverables, Project exclusions, Project constrains, Project assumptions.

Define Scope: Altro (1) Quality Function Deployment (QFD)
Create WBS: Sintesi Scope Baseline is a component of the project management plan, and includes: Project Scope Statement (description of the project scope, major deliverables, assumptions, and constraints) WBS (decomposition of the total scope of the work into WP and deliverables) WBS Dictionary (provides detailed deliverable, activity, and scheduling information about each component in the WBS; WBS dictionary includes Code of account identifier, Description of work, Assumptions and constraints, Responsible organization, Schedule milestones, Associated schedule activities, Resources required, Cost estimates, Quality requirements, Acceptance criteria, Technical references, Agreement information)
Create WBS: Flow Diagram

TIME MANAGEMENT Plan Schedule Management Define Activities Sequence Activities Estimate Activity Resources TIME MANAGEMENT Estimate Activity Durations Develop Schedule Control Schedule
Plan Schedule Management: Sintesi Schedule Management Plan is a component of the project management plan. It can be formal or informal, highly detailed or broad. The plan defines how schedule contingencies will be reported and assessed and it can establish: Schedule model development and maintenance (methodology and tool) Level of accuracy and units of measure Organizational procedures links Control thresholds Rules of performance measurement (control accounts, SPI, CPI, etc.)
Plan Schedule Management: Flow Diagram
Define Activities: Sintesi Decomposition is a technique through which subdividing the project WPs into smaller and more manageable part Rolling Wave Planning is a form of progressive elaboration of the work to be done (in the near term, it is defined in detail whereas the future work is defined at a higher level of the WBS). Activity List includes the activity identifier and the detailed description of the work to do. Activity Attributes extend the activity list by adding further information such as predecessor, successor, leads and lags, resource requirements, constraints, the responsible person, the level of effort (LOE), the place where the work has to be done, etc. Milestone is a significant point or event in the project. It can be mandatory or optional. Milestones are similar to regular schedule activities, with the same structure and attributes, but they have zero duration because milestones represent a moment in time.
Define Activities: Flow Diagram
Sequence Activities: Sintesi
Sequence Activities: Flow Diagram
Sequence Activities: Altro (1) Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM) is a method used to build a project schedule network in which activities are represented by nodes and are graphically linked by one or more logical relationships to show the sequence in which the activities are to be performed. PDM includes 4 types of dependencies: Finish-to-Start (FS) Finish-to-Finish (FF) Start-to-Start (SS) Start-to-Finish (SF) A lead is the amount of time whereby a successor activity can be advanced with respect to a predecessor activity A lag is the amount of time whereby a successor activity will be delayed with respect to a predecessor activity
Estimate Activity Resources: Sintesi Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) is a hierarchical representation of resources organized by categories (labor, material, equipment, ) and types (skill level, grade level, ).
Estimate Activity Resources: Flow Diagram
Estimate Activity Resources: Altro (1) Alternative Analysis using various levels of resource capability or skills, different size or type of machines, different tools (hand versus automated), and make-rentor-buy decisions regarding the resource Published Estimating Data (Several organizations routinely publish updated production rates and unit costs of resources for an extensive array of labor trades, material, and equipment for different countries and geographical locations within countries) Bottom-Up Estimating that is a method of estimating project duration or cost by aggregating the estimates of the lower-level components of the WBS Project Management Software has the capability to help plan, organize, and manage resource pools and develop resource estimates; depending on the sophistication of the software, resource breakdown structures, resource availability, resource rates, and various resource calendars can be defined to assist in optimizing resource utilization.
Estimate Activity Duration: Sintesi Activity Duration Estimates are quantitative assessments of the likely number of time periods that are required to complete an activity. They may include indication of the range of possible results (e.g. 2 weeks ± 2 days, 15 % probability of exceeding three weeks)
Estimate Activity Duration: Flow Diagram
Estimate Activity Duration: Altro (1) Analogous Estimating uses several parameters of previous projects (duration, budget, size, complexity, ) as the basis for estimating the same parameters for future projects. It is frequently used when there is a limited amount of information, and mainly in the early phases of a project. Parametric Estimating uses a statistical relationship between historical data and other variables (e.g. square meters in painting, linear meters in cabling) to estimate activity s cost, budget or duration. Three-Point Estimating, by considering uncertainty and risk: Beta Distribution t E : Expected time t O : Optimistic time (best-case scenario) t M : Most likely time t P : Pessimistic time (worst-case scenario) Contingency Reserves are the estimated duration within the schedule baseline, which is allocated for identified risks that are accepted and for which contingent or mitigation responses are developed; Management Reserves are a specified amount of the project duration withheld for management control purposes and are reserved for unforeseen work that is within scope of the project;
Develop Schedule: Sintesi
Develop Schedule: Flow Diagram
Develop Schedule: Altro (6) Critical Path Method (CPM) calculates the theoretical early start (ES) and early finish (EF) dates, late start (LS) and late finish (LF) dates, for all the activities, without considering any resource limitations, by performing a forward pass analysis and a backward pass analysis through the schedule network. Critical Path (CP) is that path that requires more time; every delay in the execution of the activities situated on the CP generates a delay in the project completion!
Control Schedule: Sintesi Performance Reviews measure, compare, and analyze schedule performance such as actual start and finish dates, percent complete, and remaining duration for work in progress. They include Trend Analysis, Critical Path Method, Critical Chain Method, EVM - Earned Value Management
