Flowers with iron wire and nylon stockings Filo di ferro e fiori con le calze di naylon What you need: * red and green nylon stockings * a bunch of pistils with black heads * cooked brass wire 0.07 mm and very thin wire to bind the flowers * cardboard disc: 11.5 cm external diameter, 5.5cm. internal diameter, and raffia to cover it * moulds to shape the petals: glue-stick tubes:medium-sized and small size * pliers: nippers, all round and square: see photo * Vinyl glue or similar * forest green coloured crepe paper to cover calyx and stems Cosa ti serve: * calze di nylon rosse e verdi * 1 mazzolino di pistilli con la capocchia nera * filo d ottone cotto del diametro di mm. 0,07 e sottilissimo per legare i fiori * disco di cartone del dia. di cm. 11,5 interno 5,5 e rafia per rivestirlo * stampi per modellare i petali: i tubetti della colla Pritt: medio e piccolo * le pinze adeguate: tronchesino, tuttotondo e quadrata: vedi foto * Vinavil o attacca tutto * carta crespa color sottobosco per rivestire i calici e i gambi Pinza quadrata, tuttotondo e tronchesino Pinza quadrata, tuttotondo e tronchesino Photo 1. 5 8. The leaves: Make them in the same way as the petals but shape them before inserting them on the stem. 9. The base What you need: * raffia of 2 or 3 colours * a needle for wool * medium cardboard frame of 11.5 cm external diameter, 5.5cm. internal diameter. * glue Open the raffia until you get a strip and use it to cover the frame, as shown in fig. 1. Make the joins of the raffia only on one side of the frame. This will be the back part. Make the central web with closed raffia keeping the same distance between the rays. To finish it off, after joining the 2 ends with two knots in the centre, stitch them at the back. 8. Le foglie di calza: le crei inizialmente come i petali dei fiori ma a differenza di quest ultimi le modelli prima d inserirle nel gambo. 9. La base: Cosa ti serve: * rafia a uno o più colori * 1 ago da lana * cornice di cartone medio del diam. di cm. 11,5 - interno 5,5 * attaccatutto Apri la rafia sino ad ottenere un nastro e con questo ricopri la cornice come indica la fig.1. Le giunture della rafia falle tutte da una sola parte della cornice e, essa, sarà il suo rovescio. La ragnatela centrale creala con la rafia chiusa, distanzia i suoi raggi in modo uniforme e, alla fine, dopo aver unito i due capi al centro con 2 nodi falli passare sul rovescio. 5

7 12. See the poppies. You can make pistils by dipping the end of a piece of thin covered wire into some Vinyl paste coloured with yellow tempera. 12. Rametti di fiori : vedi i papaveri. Clothes brooch The wire is again the golden cooked brass or copper type, of a diameter which is right for the size of the petals and leaves. Always use guttaperca tape to cover the stem because it doesn t stain your clothes. 13. Spilla per abito. Il filo é sempre d ottone cotto dorato o rame cotto dorato e il suo diametro più o meno sottile dev essere in rapporto alla grandezza del petalo e delle foglie. Per la copertura dei gambi utilizza sempre la guttaperca in quanto essa non macchia gli abiti. 7

Clothes brooch The wire is again the golden cooked brass or copper type, of a diameter which is right for the size of the petals and leaves.

8 As you can see from the photos, the flower is always made of 5 small petals. Each petal is made individually and then attached to the others around the pistils. The pistils are small pieces of thin golden string. The broochpin is glued onto the finished stem. Come puoi vedere dalla foto, il fiore è sempre composto di 5 piccoli petali. Ogni petalo è creato da solo e poi assemblato agli altri intorno ai pistilli. I pistilli sono pezzetti di cordino dorato La spilla è incollata sul gambo finito. The red bunch holds sugared almonds and is embellished with small branches with pearl flowers. This has obviously been created by expert hands. The flowers on the little horse were glued onto the saddle. Il mazzolino rosso porta confetti é abbellito con rametti di fiori con perline. E evidente che è stato creato da mani con una grande esperienza in questa tecnica. I fiori sul cavallino sono incollati al sedile. Ogni petalo è creato da solo e poi assemblato agli altri intorno ai pistilli. I pistilli sono pezzetti di cordino dorato La spilla è incollata sul gambo finito.
