1 Dear IS Modena families, Congratulations to our Grade 9 students for the amazing job on the WWI Interdisciplinary Unit and their exhibition. The projects are still on display in the Middle Years corridor in front of the Library. Please visit the exhibition, the projects will be on display all of this week. Terza Media Mock Exams Most of our Grade 9 students will be taking their Terza Media Mock exams this week which include: Italian, French, Mathematics & Invalsi exams. Prima Media Mock Tests: most of our Grade 6 students will be taking their Prima Media Mock Tests on Thursday and Friday. Lunch & after school activities: new lunch & after school activities will start this week. Parents have been informed via mail of activities confirmed. Simulazione Esame Terza Media Newsletter n 19 - January La maggior parte dei nostri studenti di Grade 9 sosterrà la simulazione dell esame di Terza Media questa settimana, simulazione che include test di Italiano, Francese, Matematica e il test Invalsi. Simulazione Idoneità Prima Media: la maggior parte dei nostri studenti di Grade 6 sosterrà la simulazione dell Idoneità di Prima Media questo giovedì e venerdì. Attività dopo pranzo e dopo scuola: le nuove attività dopo pranzo e dopo scuola inizieranno questa settimana. I genitori sono stati informati via mail delle attività confermate. 3 FROM THE PTA MESSAGE FROM THE PTA Dear parents, In behalf of the PTA I would like to thank all of you for your help and enthusiasm with our Winter Fair in December. You helped rehearsing songs with the children, you provided lots and lots of delicious international food for the buffet, you helped with setting up all the tables and spaces for the day of the fair and many of you helped with the cleaning up and putting back in order of all the rooms we used. You supported the entire school by buying tickets and coming to the winter fair. You showed us and your children that you support the efforts we make in establishing a good school community and that it is worth putting effort into the things we believe in. 5 ST VALENTINE S DAY CELEBRATIONS Non-uniform day on Friday, February 12th Dear Parents, Last year the Student Council started collaborating with CEFA, an organisation focusing on bringing education to rural areas and sponsoring schools and young students. Last year the school raised enough money for four scholarships and we would love to continue our collaboration with CEFA. Therefore, we have decided to also have a non-uniform day for St. Valentine s day on Friday 12 th of February, where each students may come dressed in pink, purple, white or red if they pay 2. The money will be collected by the class teachers in the morning. The same rules as always apply not too much skin showing and shorts and skirts must be at least mid-thigh. All of the money will go to bringing long-lasting effects on people s lives by paying for education. If the student does not want to come dressed up but still wants to donate money, they are free to donate and come in uniform. If the students want to donate more than 2, they are welcome to do so. L anno scorso la nostra scuola ha raccolto abbastanza soldi per quattro borse di studio e quest anno vogliamo continuare la nostra collaborazione con CEFA. Dunque, abbiamo deciso di organizzare un giorno senza uniforme per San Valentino, Venerdì 12 Febbraio, dove ogni studente può venire a scuola vestito in rosso, rosa, viola oppure bianco pagando 2. I soldi verranno raccolti dagli insegnanti durante la mattina. Anche per questa giornata vigono le stesse normative per l abbigliamento, niente di troppo scollato e pantaloni oppure gonne devono arrivare almeno a metà coscia. Tutti i soldi raccolti verranno usati per aiutare il futuro delle vite degli studenti attraverso l educazione. Please discuss this with them. If your child arrives home with clothing or something else that belongs to another student, please return it to school the next day. A lost property (Lost & Found Box) is located temporarily in the Medical Room, feel free to check it for missing items and please keep it tidy. WINTER SEASON Please make sure students have winter coats for outdoor breaks & activities. PARKING AREA All parents must use the public parking area outside the school gate at all times. Please remember to lock your cars and please make sure you don t leave any personal belongings in the car. Internal parking area is reserved for staff only and the bus service.
