2 Aurich is a town of Low Saxon Germany. Near the beautiful city centre, you can find EuropaHaus, a big building that every year plays host to meetings of schools from all over Europe. The ordinary day is organized in different moments, most of the time the young participants have the possibility to interact with each other, they don t have much time to relax in their rooms: first activity, after breakfast of course, is the warm up, and with little dancing games or similar they get definitely awake. Then the group gets separated and every one works until lunch time in the workshop they have chosen at the beginning of the week; there are different kinds of activities such as drama, video, painting, music, creative writing basically the workshops activity is centered around the theme of the week, which can be either sustainability, human rights or other ethical topics. After lunch work goes on until dinner time with another coffee break in the middle ( the first one is in the morning). In the evening there are different spaces for the students to enjoy their time together, for example the table tennis room or the cellar bar. 3 VANESSA BISERNI 4KA Il soggiorno ad Aurich non è stata una semplice gita di classe, bensì si è rivelata un esperienza entusiasmante e formativa. Infatti spinge a mettersi in gioco, a confrontarsi con gli altri e a superare i propri limiti. Da l opportunità di conoscere e interagire con ragazze e ragazzi provenienti da nazioni diverse, rispettivamente Germania, Spagna e Olanda. Porta ad aprire gli occhi sul mondo, allargando gli orizzonti. Se la consiglierei? Decisamente sì: di occasioni come queste bisogna farne tesoro. ILARIA GRAMEGNA 4KA L'esperienza di Aurich è stata molto significativa, ho potuto conoscere ragazzi della mia età provenienti da differenti nazioni: Olanda,Germania e Spagna e scambiare con loro opinioni e idee, imparando cosa ci accumuna e cosa invece ci separa. Inoltre con i vari laboratori e le esperienze didattiche abbiamo creato un legame fortissimo che, nella mia esperienza personale, ci ha avvicinato molto alla cultura europea ma allo stesso tempo, ha unito ancora di più la nostra classe. Noi studenti della 4KA abbiamo collaborato tutti insieme mettendoci in gioco. Aurich è stato per me un momento di crescita e di sviluppo creativo che mi ha dato l'opportunità di confrontarmi con persone totalmente diverse dal punto di vista culturale e ciò mi ha permesso di trascorrere una piacevolissima settimana.

4 VIERI PANDOLFINI 4KA Sono molto contento dell'esperienza ad Aurich che è stata, oltre che divertente, anche molto istruttiva. Infatti i vari workshop proposti erano davvero interessanti e in maniera anche divertente riuscivano ad insegnare cose utili, pratiche che normalmente non vengono affrontate nell ambito scolastico, come ad esempio cucina o videomaking. Inoltre è stato molto bello ritrovarsi e relazionarsi con ragazzi di altre nazionalità all'interno della struttura e delle attività, ritengo infatti che anche il confronto culturale sia una parte molto rilevante dell'esperienza. Ho trascorso una settimana bellissima e consiglierei la permanenza ad Aurich a chiunque ne abbia l'opportunità MATTEO GIRIBONO 4KA Il soggiorno in Aurich è stato complessivamente un esperienza molto interessante e piacevole, non solo per i workshop ma anche per le possibilità che abbiamo avuto di conoscere ragazzi da diversi paesi europei e di entrare in contatto con culture diverse dalla nostra. Sfortunatamente il cibo non era particolarmente buono, ma neanche pessimo. Allo stesso modo penso che avremmo dovuto lavorare di più sui diritti umani (l argomento principale della settimana) prima che iniziassimo lo stage; infatti la nostra conoscenza a riguardo era piuttosto scarsa.

5 URSULA ROBB The class trip to Aurich with the 4KA was so much fun and I would definitively go again if I had the chance to. It was a wonderful to not only meet students from three other countries and make new friends but it also strengthened the friendship bonds of the class as a whole. The drama workshop was amazing too. Within the small amount of time given, we were able to do exercises and also put together a short skit. I enjoyed the workshop very much and while it was a week of speaking English, I also learned more Italian in the process. This trip was amazing and an awesome week. We made new friends, got to have fun and also got to learn a bit during the week without knowing it. It's a wonderful experience to have.

9 WARM-UP Il risveglio al mattino è accompagnato da giochi di gruppo organizzati.

10 HUMAN RIGHTS Il tema di quest anno ha riguardato i diritti umani. Ciascuno di noi ha ricevuto un immagine all inizio della settimana con cui ha dovuto lavorare durante il seminario. A fine lavori ognuno di noi aveva dato un senso alla sua immagine.

17 LABORATORIO DI TEATRO Un divertente spettacolo inerente ai temi trattati durante la settimana viene presentato alla fine del seminario.

18 LABORATORIO DI SCRITTURA Abbiamo scelto la scrittura di un libro per bambini come lavoro di scrittura creativa,in quanto è stato ritenuto il metodo migliore per mettere alla prova la nostra conoscenza della lingua inglese (attraverso rime,poesie,giochi di parole,acrostici). Oltre a questo abbiamo riflettuto sull'utilità del gioco nel processo di apprendimento,e abbiamo cercato il metodo più efficace per trasmettere concetti importanti ai bambini ponendoli in modo da essere comprensibili e divertenti: il libro infatti si basa sul contrasto tra un bimbo europeo,che si lamenta per il troppo,e un bimbo africano,che sogna anche solo il poco. le piccole filastrocche sono accompagnate da buffe illustrazioni per un totale di 10 pagine. 21 FRESH WATER film premiere 22nd March 2012 Videoconference with Aurich What would you do if one morning after getting up you discovered, watching the news, that public drinking water isn t available because of the worsening of water crisis and because of the contrasts between your country and another one? This absurd situation (maybe not as improbable as we could think) is the topic of a Dutch short film we watched on the 22nd of March when we had a video conference with schools of other European countries (the Netherlands, Spain ) and with the students of different nationalities which were in Aurich Germany. The movie, which needed one and a half year to be directed, has been made for the EU project and involved both students and teachers. It deals with the case of a lack of drinking water, hence the title Fresh water, in a western and modern country and with the social issues that it could cause In the end only the International Court of Justice in The Hauge could provide a pacific solution. 22 Dear friends, My name is Emiliano Neroni and I am representing the class which I am currently a part of, '4KB' of the classical lyceum Virgilio in Milan, Italy. With this letter, we would like to share our opinions on the movie you have kindly decided to show us, and ask some questions that have arisen.first of all, we think the movie was brilliantly made. As short as it was, you managed to deliver a very serious message in a clear and direct way. Sadly, technology does not always work as it is supposed to, so due to various communication problems, we haven't been able to ask some questions we were left with. We are hoping you will be able to reply to them. You said the movie took over a year and a half to produce, including the scripting, shooting and post-production processes. How did you organize your time while filming? Was it something you did during school time or did it take up a part of your personal time? - When we started with the movie our teacher told us we could do it for our end thesis. That is the last assignment we have to make in Holland before we do our exams. A lot of time we could use for this assignment, but of course we had to invest also personal time. Because we knew we were working on a unique project that did not matter. Clearly the movie has a very high production value. How were you able to afford all the necessary equipment required to shoot it? Were you funded by any third-party company or association? - We were able to interest the local municipality for our ideas. Because the ICJ is a prestigious institute they gave us a subsidy of euro's. With this money we were able to hire a professional production company. We had enough money for three days of filming and editing. The movie is set in an hypothetical future year Do you think that such an event is actually feasible to happen this soon, or is the date not relevant? - The date is not relevant, but what does your class think? We came up with the idea because it is a subject that concerns the whole world, but at first we did not think that this could happen very soon. Were the actors paid or were they all voluntary? What about the rest of the film crew? - All the actors are students or teachers from the Hofstad Lyceum. There were some family members of the crew that helped out, but nobody was paid. Only the people from the professional production company were paid. Could you share some interesting facts that we may not know? Also, what can we do to expand our knowledge of the matter? - Our teacher is very prepared to use web conference and tell you more about the ICJ.
