P<0.05 P<0.05 Population-based cross-sectional study (n = 336) of Danish adolescents. In multivariate analysis (adjusted for pubertal development and smoking status), physical activity was inversely associated with measures of carotid stiffness in boys, but not in girls. No association between any of physical activity and IMT.
Physical activity is a potent inductor of Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) mobilization from the bone marrow niche and promotes homing of these cells to sites of ischemia. In stable CAD moderate exercise training led to reduced EPCs apoptosis and increased circulating EPCs levels.
